Yellow Rack, LLC, was formed in 2008, but the idea for the company has been in development for a longer period of time. Since 2004, Matt Sopel, company president, has worked on the Yellow Rack, long before that became the product’s official name. The general idea for the product was always the same, but finding just the right material for a quality product has resulted in a morph of both the design and the material from which the Yellow Rack is now made.

Matt is a veteran driver in the trucking industry. Load bar storage was always a major problem, one that drivers tend to cuss about rather than solve. That was even the case for Matt until one day when his boss, the owner of the trucking company for which Matt worked, had had enough of the high cost of load bar loss and damage. Losing anywhere from 15% to 40% of his bars annually, this owner finally decided, in a last ditch effort to cut costs, to make his drivers responsible for the bars they carried in their trailers. Matt realized he would have to come up with something creative in order to hang onto his equipment. He’d seen the piles of bars at loading docks, damaged, undamaged, printed and marked with the names, logos, stickers and stamps of hundreds of companies’ futile attempts to retain possession of all of their expensive property. Bars run over by fork lifts, run over by trucks after the bars had fallen off the dock where they’d been tossed. Bars in great shape that were left behind because in the commotion of removing cargo were tossed onto the dock and forgotten.

From this miasma was born the primordial design, and from that day the Yellow Rack has progressed until it has reached the current peak of function and performance that we know is going to save trucking companies millions of dollars every year, and save drivers the hassle.
